Watson Returns to Field After Hospital Visit
Christian Watson left Thursday night’s game after an awkward landing, was taken to a nearby hospital for tests, and cleared to return by the third quarter.

Christian Watson left the Thursday night contest against the Carolina Panthers after an awkward landing, was taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary tests, and received clearance to rejoin the sideline by the third quarter.
He walked off the field under his own power, yet officials escorted him to the team’s medical area when he began coughing up blood, prompting the precautionary evaluation.
Before the incident, the wideout had recorded half a dozen receptions totaling 100 yards, including a 53-yard catch off a pass from Jordan Love that marked his final play of the half. That long reception highlighted his ability to stretch the field.
Because he often forces defenses to stay deep, a brief absence could have forced the offense to rely more heavily on short routes, which might have reduced the chance for big plays. Nonetheless, his swift return helped preserve the rhythm the Packers had built early in the game.
Entering Thursday’s matchup, he ranked seventh in the league for receiving yards with a total of 595, held the second spot in touchdowns with six, and sat third in yards per catch at 17.5, positioning him for a breakout season. Those rankings placed him among the most productive receivers at that point in the campaign.
The 2022 second-round selection has missed time previously, sitting out several games during his rookie year and appearing in only nine contests in 2023 because of assorted ailments. A torn ACL suffered at the close of the 2024 season kept him out for the first seven games of the 2025 campaign.
Green Bay Packers offense averages 328.4 yards and 20.6 points per game; losing him would likely depress those figures further. The unit relies on his speed to open up space for other playmakers.
He was cleared to leave the medical facility and returned to the field before the start of the fourth quarter, resuming his role on the sideline and participating in the final series of plays.
