Nix Biosensors, a performance-tech firm, secured a $10 million Series A round, lifting its total financing to $17 million. The infusion will speed the rollout of Nix Health, whose B2B algorithms are licensed to consumer health and fitness, sport and wellness brands around the world.

Backing the round was a mix of existing and new investors, including Shorewind Capital, Great Oaks Venture Capital, Oregon Sports Angels, and White Road Investments. Other participants included the family office of the founders of CLIF Bar, 23andMe founder Anne Wojcicki, and DAZN founder Len Blavatnik.

Nix Health is being tested with beta partners now, with a goal of full launch in Q1 of 2027 for integration with popular wearables. The company’s founder and CEO, Meridith Cass, explained that the mission statement has always been about changing how humans practice healthcare.

Cass noted that Nix has gained traction with sports teams, military, and occupational safety groups, with its enterprise Nix Pro business producing 93% growth last year. It has grown another 42% year to date, with some publicly identified users including LSU Football, NWSL’s Bay FC, and USA Triathlon.

Nix accelerated its use of artificial intelligence to develop the new Nix Health algorithms. The dataset proved to be sufficiently large that it can now reliably predict the onset of sweat, the rate of sweat, and its electrolyte content based on the user profile, fitness activity, and environment.

Among its advisors is Bob Murray, the co-founder and former director of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute. Murray noted that Nix’s early testing was rigorous and impressive, given the lack of a viable predecessor.

Nix has begun developing proofs of concept for other biomarkers such as lactate, cortisol, glucose, Vitamin D, testosterone, and estrogen. Cass said that the company has hypotheses about the next most interesting areas to explore, always considering what the consumer cares about and what data is actionable.

Meridith Cass stated that Nix Biosensors will use the funding to further develop its technology and expand its reach. The company is focused on creating a platform that provides valuable insights for consumers and helps them make informed decisions about their health.
