Ruby White congratulates Sakshi Chaudhary
Ruby White congratulates Sakshi Chaudhary after losing to her in boxing match at Commonwealth Games, seeking revenge in future bouts.

Ruby White, a 19-year-old boxer, has taken the Commonwealth Games by storm, winning a silver medal in the women’s 51kg category in Glasgow. She was unbeaten in 71 fights heading into the final but lost to Indian Sakshi Chaudhary with a 5-0 defeat.
White’s boxing career is just beginning, and she’s already looking forward to her next match against Chaudhary. She says, “When I’m a little bit more experienced in the senior ranks, I want to get my revenge!”
White was underprepared for the fight, having a lot of pressure on her as it was her first multi-sport games and first senior tournament.
Despite this, she’s confident that she can win with a changed game plan.
White prefers to reflect on the positive moments from the tournament. She had four very good fights and lost out on the finals, but coming back with silver in her first major tournament is an amazing achievement.
White was very upset in the ring after she lost, but she’s on a good path and everything’s been amazing ever since. She says, “It’s all experience as an amateur until you get to the Olympics – that’s when it really matters – but the Commonwealth Games was such an amazing start.”
From seven years old, White worked it out: she always dreamt of going to the 2026 Commonwealth Games and then the 2028 Olympics. She’s on the right track to be at such a big tournament, and to come away with silver is an achievement, and she’s happy.
White’s success has caught the attention of many notable names across British boxing, but the one that stuck out most to her was that of Nicola Adams. The two-time Olympic gold medalist is an idol of White’s, and she is hoping to emulate her success for Team GB in 2028.
White says, “[An Olympic gold medal] would be absolutely amazing. I’m just really going to keep training and living life like an athlete. Hopefully, I can get to LA [in 2028] and I can bring that gold medal home.”
White’s determination and focus on her goals are evident in her words and actions. As she continues to train and compete, she’s likely to make a name for herself in the boxing world.
For now, White is enjoying her silver medal and the experience she gained from the Commonwealth Games.
She’s already looking forward to her next match and the opportunity to face Chaudhary again.
