Titans extend deal with rising star Jojo Fifita
Gold Coast Titans lock in rising star Jojo Fifita with a two-year extension, securing his services through the 2029 NRL season after 35 tries in 78 matches.
Jojo Fifita has signed a two-year extension with the Gold Coast Titans, keeping the centre at the club through the 2029 season.
Extension reflects rapid rise
Since making his debut in 2022, Fifita has taken part in 78 NRL matches, crossing the line 35 times while operating primarily in the Titans’ outside backs. His early career has already featured a blend of size, speed and a knack for finishing that many veterans spend years developing.
In this season he added eight tries from the centre position under coach Josh Hannay, averaging 116 metres per game, delivering 11 line breaks and providing four try assists. Those figures highlighted a player who can both finish opportunities and create space for teammates, a dual threat that is rare for someone in his second season.
Coach Hannay said, “It’s a huge coup to have Jojo remain a Titan and he has gone to another level in his career this year.” He praised Fifita’s natural power, speed and ability to generate chances each time he receives the ball, noting that the centre’s work ethic has already set a benchmark for younger squad members.

State of Origin credentials
Fifita earned selection for the Queensland Maroons in 2026, appearing in all three State of Origin matches under former coach Billy Slater. The call-up placed him among the elite players representing the state in the sport’s most intense rivalry.
During those games he recorded two tries, five tackle breaks and averaged 146 run metres, confirming his status as an Origin-level talent. His contributions on the field mirrored the impact he has shown at club level, reinforcing his reputation as a high-impact player.
“This club means a lot to me. I’m a one-club man and hopefully it stays that way for a long time,” Fifita said after signing the new deal. He emphasized family proximity and confidence in the club’s direction under Hannay, noting that the environment feels like the right place to continue his development.
The Titans finished second last this season and will regroup in November to commence preseason training for a stronger year in 2027.
