AEW Collision kicks off Continental Cup action

The Continental Cup opened Friday night on AEW Collision, launching a single-elimination tournament that will finish at All In: London later this month. Three first-round matches aired during the episode, which was recorded at the Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Claudio Castagnoli advances with dominant win

The tournament started with Claudio Castagnoli against Ace Austin. Castagnoli won after landing a launching uppercut, pinning Austin. The match set a strong standard, though the result was never in doubt.

It earned an 8.5/10 booking grade.

Tag matches and post-match attacks

The Brawling Birds (Hayter and Windsor) quickly defeated Vert Vixen and Viva Van in tag team action. The bout was a squash, but the real action came afterward when Divine Dominion attacked the victors from behind. Their attempt to put Windsor through a table failed when the table didn’t break, weakening the segment’s impact.

The booking received a 6.5/10.

Later, Hikaru Shida and Persephone beat Maya World and Hyan, with Shida hitting a modified Tombstone piledriver for the win. The match was solid, though Maya World was protected by not taking the pinfall.

This segment scored a 7.5/10.

Orange Cassidy returns with retro theme

Orange Cassidy made his entrance to his old theme song “Jane” before defeating Matt Sydal with a Beach Break. Sydal, competing in his first AEW singles match since 2024, performed well, but Cassidy’s victory was assured.

The bout was rated 9/10 for its in-ring action and Sydal’s effort.

Elsewhere, The Rascalz (Dezmond Xavier and Zachary Wentz) swiftly beat Steven Fuerte and Aaron Solo. The highlight came when Myron Reed challenged Speedball Mike Bailey to an impromptu match. Bailey won with a standing Spanish Fly, delivering what was likely the night’s best performance.

This match earned an 8.5/10.

Moxley vs. Perry previewed ahead of Dynamite

Jon Moxley and Castagnoli cut a backstage promo hyping Moxley’s upcoming Continental Cup match against Jungle Jack Perry on Dynamite. Moxley criticized Perry’s Bang Bang Gang, calling them the wrong allies.

David Finlay teased a showdown with Jay White, vowing to put him out of action for good.
